Young people in Barmouth, have been doing their bit to help light up the town before next week’s annual bonfire and firework display.
Children from Ysgol Y Traeth and the youth club have been busy making lanterns for the event at a special workshop funded by the Police and Community Trust.
The funding has been awarded as part of Operation B.A.N.G (Be a Nice Guy) which is a joint all Wales initiative between the four Welsh police forces and three Fires and Rescue Services.
The money is being used by police to hold diversionary activities such as Halloween parties to engage with the youngsters in their local communities and act as a diversion away from anti social alternatives.
Police Community Support Officer, Kath Lake-Bullen said that she was delighted to have secured the funding and said that the lanterns would be used in a parade from the local Leisure Centre to the beach.
She also thanked local businesses who had contributed £10 each towards the event and to Communities First for printing the poster which had been put up to advertise the event.
The annual bonfire and firework display is being held on Barmouth beach on Friday November 5 and the bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm.
