The volunteer crew of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution’s Barry Dock lifeboat were called into action at 2am on Monday morning (4 July).
A 30-foot boat got into difficulty when its anchor was unable to hold position near the Bendrick Rock just east of the Barry Harbour entrance.
The boat, with one person on board, eventually grounded on the rock.
The Barry Dock lifeboat and its ‘boarding’ boat approached the area and was able to standby until the tide changed and the stricken boat was able to refloat.
The lifeboat boarding boat crew were satisfied that no damage had compromised the integrity of the stranded boat and that it was able to sail onto its next destination.
