To coincide with Make a Noise in Libraries fortnight which takes place between June 11 and June 24, Cardiff Libraries have begun offering eAudiobook downloads, adding the innovative digital format to their collection of eBooks.
Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, library members can download bestsellers from Stieg Larsson, Anita Shreve, Dan Brown and many more to play on their MP3 player, iPod or computer from home or anywhere in the world. All that is required is a PC or Mac with broadband internet access and their library membership details.
Each title has unlimited availability, which means any number of library members can download the latest bestsellers at the same time. This makes waiting lists a thing of the past and means reading groups will be able to listen to the same book at the same time.
There are over 600 titles in the collection with something for all tastes and ages and new titles will be added each month.
Make a Noise in Libraries (MANIL) Fortnight is an annual campaign to bring public libraries and blind and partially sighted people together to improve access to books and information.
Cabinet Member for Education, Lifelong Learning and Libraries, Cllr Julia Magill, said: “This is an important development for Cardiff Libraries to modernise its service and attract new members. The new eAudiobook service means our borrowers can enjoy the latest bestsellers wherever and whenever it suits them at a touch of a button.
“The simple download process is user friendly for listeners of all ages and every library member will be able to access and enjoy the new eAudiobook format.”
