Businesses in Newbridge and Bargoed are invited to apply for an EU-backed Building Improvement Grant that can support them in improving and developing their premises.
The Building Improvement Grant (BIG) scheme, which forms part of the wider town centre regeneration programmes, will bring significant benefits to local businesses. Grants may be awarded for improvements that include:
- External building refurbishment such as repairs to, or replacement of windows, doors, shop fronts, roofs, brickwork or signage.
- Internal decoration or refurbishment
- Landscaping within curtilage of the property.
Financial support of up to 75% of the total works cost is available, with each commercial property eligible for a maximum grant of £50,000.
The Building Improvement Grant is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and administered by Caerphilly County Borough Council. The grant is available for a limited time and projects that demonstrate the greatest benefit will be given funding priority.
Cllr Ken James, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Planning & Sustainable Development said: “This is an exciting opportunity for businesses within Newbridge and Bargoed to get considerable financial support in order to improve their premises so that they can continue to provide first class customer service. I would like to encourage businesses to take advantage of the Building Improvement Grant and help further enhance the environment of two recently regenerated town centres, hopefully securing a long and successful future for our high streets.”
