‘Big’ funding boost for Cemaes Community Park

An exciting project to transform a park in Trowbridge has received a boost with the announcement that it has been awarded £191,000 from the Big Lottery Fund.

The fund will go towards providing residents of the Trowbridge estate with a new and exciting space for play, exercise and relaxation.

The park, located south of the estate has suffered in the past from vehicle misuse, fly-tipping and vandalism.  As a result of the lottery funding, the space will now be transformed into a large multi use games area with toddler and junior/senior play equipment.  A mini football pitch and community events space will also be key features of the new park.

The park will also promote nature and wildlife through the improvement of a pond in the park, including a pond dipping platform, the planting of new trees and wild flowers. Residents, community groups and local primary school children will all be encouraged to get involved in transforming the space into a fantastic asset for the community.

Councillor Judith Woodman, Executive Member for Communities, Housing and Social Justice said: “This is wonderful news for the residents of the Trowbridge estate. This gives the Council an opportunity to work in partnership to help create a community park that everyone can be proud of.”
