Bishop gives agriculture machinery his blessing

At the Royal Welsh Show The Rt. Rev’d John Davies, Bishop of Swansea and Brecon visited a number of exhibitors among them the JCB stand. He had a thorough explanation of the way the first of the new eco-range of the British-built diggers, which rolled off the company’s Staffordshire production line in Union Flag colours, worked.

He heard how JCB maintained profitability in 2009 despite the deepest ever recession in the global construction equipment industry and that a significant improvement was predicted for 2010.

Bishop John, who speaks for the Bishops in Wales on rural affairs, was impressed at the way the company tried to source its parts from industry in the UK and worked to bring down running costs and to lessen the impact on the Environment.

Their range of agricultural equipment is expanding, “It was good to hear that Farmers have had a significant input into the design. I’m not just a Bishop in a digger, I’m in an eco friendly, fuel efficient machine which it is estimated can save users in excess of £1,000. This sort of saving is welcome at any time but especially in such perilous economic times.”

Bishop John ended his visit by pressing a button in one of the agricultural vehicles (which appears in the Dancing Diggers display) revealing a welsh flag as they do in the Finale.
