Bloom time at the Garden

It may have been the coldest winter in living memory but spring has sprung with a vengeance at the National Botanic Garden of Wales.

Horticulturist Martin Knowles thinks we could be in for a spectacular show of blooms: “The prolonged cold spell has really squeezed the normal timings we’d expect to see spring flowers and we are very likely to get all these things come at once,” he said.

“We already have stunning, little reticulated irises out in the Double Walled Garden. Our snowdrop display is truly wonderful and now the daffodils are here you can see the season being concertina-ed,” added Martin.

“It is quite nice now but it is just going to get better and better over the next month or so.”

The National Botanic Garden is open daily from 10am.
