Blues Under 18s maintained their winning start to the WRU Age Grade season with a nine-try victory over Gogledd Cymru at the Ely Memorial Ground.
Having beaten the Scarlets 18-6 in their opening game at Parc y Scarlets two weeks previous, the Blues out on their Sunday best to brush aside a plucky but under-powered Gogledd side 57-0.
Owen Sheppeard kicked off the try fest inside five minutes and after that it was something of a procession as the hosts dominated at forward and used their extra pace behind the scrum to secure a bonus point before half time.
Darren Harris added number two on a dozen minutes before two in quick succession from Richard Lovering took the game right away from the visitors who have now conceded 135 points in their opening three games.
Admittedly, the stuck to their guns and did their best to stem the second half tide. However, after Matt Roberts had grabbed his first try of the season, Ellis Jenkins crossed for a sixth and Sam Campbell raced in for a quick-fire hat-trick – the first in the competition this season.
Lewis Williams added two conversions and Joseph Griffin, whose 13 points had been the difference at the Scarlets earlier this month, kicked four.
The Blues South Under 16s, who had kicked off the season in disappointing fashion, hit back from successive defeats against the Scarlets and Ospreys with a morale boosting 38-15 victory over Gogledd Cymru at Rumney RFC.
