At 12:00 noon today, Tuesday 17th November 2009, North Wales Police were notified of a body being found on the Great Orme in Llandudno, near to the “Rest and be thankful” café on Marine Drive.
Police and members of the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team attended at the location as a major search had been taking place involving other agencies, including the RAF search and rescue teams from 22 squadron, HM Coastguard and the RNLI. They had been searching for an 81 year old, local man.
Inspector Brian Robinson stated: “No effort had been spared to trace an elderly and vulnerable man. Our sympathy goes to the family in these tragic circumstances.”
A formal identification has not yet been held. Police state that there are no suspicious circumstances and HM Coroner will be informed of the details of this incident.
