Police were called to Pwlhelli Marina at about 7.45am this morning (Wednesday February 23) after reports of a body in the sea.
The local lifeboat was launched and the body of a 35 year old man, not believed to be local, was recovered.
Detective Inspector Keith Ellis said that the coroner had been informed and they were treating the death as unexplained at this time.
He said that inquiries were ongoing to trace the family who were believed to be from out of the area.
