Bourne: First Minister cannot deny economic reality

Welsh Conservatives today confronted the Assembly Government over the Welsh economy.

Speaking in the Assembly Chamber, Leader of the Opposition Nick Bourne AM challenged the First Minister over its commitment to improving the country’s economic position.

Commenting on the exchange, Mr Bourne said:

“Wales has slipped back even though the whole of the UK is in recession and is now the less competitive than any other nation and region of the UK, despite the First Minister’s claims that the situation has improved.

“He has also disregarded the concerns of the Hargreaves Review over creative industries, even though the review was commissioned by the Assembly Government itself.

“The First Minister and his colleagues still fail to recognise the damage done to the Welsh economy by of 13 years of Labour Government both in Cardiff and Westminster.

“The First Minister cannot keep denying the reality of the situation.”
