Responding to the First Minister’s comments on the BBC’s Andrew Marr Show, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives in the Assembly, Nick Bourne AM said:
“The First Minister’s comments are deluded and misleading.
“He says he’s ‘freezing’ the health budget because it’s the only thing he can do. Nonsense.
“Our NHS will lose out on one billion pounds over the next three years. That’s not a freeze. That’s a huge, unsustainable cut.
“The health budget should be protected in line with inflation, as we would do.
“Anything else will leave a failing service on its knees, no matter how hard-working its staff continues to be.
“The First Minister says Wales’ GVA is ‘growing enormously’.
“12 years of Labour rule in Wales has left us the poorest part of the UK. That’s a fact. Our GVA is the lowest of all the devolved nations and regions.
“Carwyn Jones should stop his Westminster whingeing, admit the mess his party has made in Wales, and come up with detailed plans to sort it out.”
