Welsh Conservatives are calling for a register of lobbyists to be launched for the National Assembly for Wales.
The register would also apply to anyone professionally engaged in a lobbying capacity for other businesses interacting with the Assembly.
Commenting on the proposal, Leader of the Opposition, Nick Bourne AM said:
“A register and accompanying code of conduct for lobbyists and people engaged in lobbying at the Assembly will ensure that it remains an open transparent institution.
“Public Affairs Cymru is looking at various options in taking the matter forward and some lobbyists like Positif Politics have been taking a constructive lead on this, which I welcome greatly.
“I have today written to the Presiding Officer and other Party Leaders to ask for their support and cooperation on taking this matter forward on a cross party basis.
“I have also asked for the creation of rules for former ministers taking up employment following their ministerial career; something the Assembly does not currently have.
“Fair and transparent rules will ensure that as an institution we operate in an open and accountable way, which ensures that the Welsh public trust our National Assembly.”
