Welsh Conservatives have expressed concern over the number of times the First Minister has visited North Wales.
In a written assembly question, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives in the Assembly Nick Bourne AM asked: How many times has the First Minister visited North Wales on Assembly business since his appointment a year ago?
Carwyn Jones replied: “This information could only be provided at disproportionate cost”.
The ambiguous response has resulted in concern regarding the First Minister’s attitude towards North Wales.
Mr Bourne said: “How hard can this question be? It is not particularly difficult and certainly doesn’t require reams of paperwork and detailed calculations.
“The extremely vague response suggests either a worrying attitude towards North Wales, or at best, a very poor memory.
“The Welsh Government should not be entombed in a Cardiff bubble, where North Wales is talked of but never seen. The Labour-Plaid Cabinet needs to visit the region and listen to the people, businesses, charities and services which are based there.
“That is the only way to properly inform the crucial decisions that are made within government.
“Carwyn Jones has been First Minister for over a year. I would expect him to have visited North Wales on a number of occasions and be well aware of when and why.
“That is not too much to ask for and anything less is gross neglect of the region.”
