Welsh Conservatives have again expressed their support for a high speed rail link to South Wales.
Responding to the recent statement by Core Cities and UK Partner Cities, Leader of the Opposition Nick Bourne AM said:
“The Welsh Conservative Party is strongly in support of a high speed rail link to South Wales and we have certainly made this clear in Wales and elsewhere.
“We agree with Core Cities’ sentiments that the Government’s current high speed rail proposals do not go far enough and miss a number of the Core Cities, including Cardiff.
“The failure to include Wales in the proposal in any way means that the country will miss out on the numerous environmental, social and economic benefits generated by high speed rail, as well as cutting journey times for individuals.
“It is essential that Wales’ economy and the UK more widely can remain globally competitive and a high speed rail network will support this development in a sustainable and equitable manner.”
