The Leader of the Welsh Conservatives in the Assembly has emphasized the importance of the Wales Office and the crucial part it has to play in delivering a fair future for the country.
Nick Bourne AM has highlighted the “pivotal” role of the Secretary of State and stressed the significance of the UK Government’s decision to review the way Wales is funded.
Nick Bourne AM said: “The vast importance of the Wales Office remains perfectly clear.
“While Assembly Members from all parties now need to get down to the job of law-making in an efficient and effective manner, the need for a Secretary of State for Wales is as strong as ever.
“This UK Government is the first to announce a review of the way Wales is funded and the Secretary of State will continue to play an important part in that process.
“The presence of the Office is also essential in giving Wales a voice in Westminster, keeping us at the heart of the UK Cabinet table, and representing Welsh interests in non-devolved areas.
“Cheryl Gillan MP continues to do an excellent job and her role in delivering a fair future for Wales remains a pivotal one.”
