One of Wales’ most recognisable beers has been named among the 50 best beers by The Independent newspaper.
The renowned and respected Brains Dark was handpicked by a panel of experts, which included Zak Avery, the 2008 Beer Writer of the Year and Jeff Evans, author of the ‘Good Bottled Beer Guide’. The treacle coloured pint was listed alongside crisp and clear lagers, hoppy ales and fruity beers.
Judging the beer, Zak Avery said; “Finally achieving recognition as a minor classic, this dark ale is chock full of coffee, chocolate and liquorice flavours, along with a faintly savoury note.”
Richard Davies, Sales and Marketing Director said: “We’ve been crafting and brewing beers since 1882 and in that time our commitment to quality has never waned. We’re incredibly proud of Dark and the many awards that it has picked up over the years. It all goes to prove that some things really do stand the test of time.”
Brains Dark is available in pubs throughout Wales. The 500ml bottle is also available to buy in Tesco, Asda and Spar stores throughout Wales and nationally in Waitrose.
