Bridgend Police have arrested four people for drugs offences after conducting searches of houses in the town.
Officers attended addresses in the Llangewydd and Brynhyfryd Ward and at Wildmill on Thursday 13th January and executed search warrants at two separate properties.
A 42-year-old man from Wildmill was arrested and charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
A 16 year old female youth and two men aged 19 and 23 from Llangewydd and Brynhyfryd were arrested on suspicion of supplying class B drugs and have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
The warrants were taken out by the local Neighbourhood Policing Team with the assistance of specialist units following information received from the community.
Bridgend Neighbourhood Police Inspector Steve Evans said: “During the searches a large quantity of drugs was recovered together with associated supply paraphernalia.
“Where there is evidence of suspicious activity at an address then we want to know about it so positive action can be taken.
“Residents can tell the police about any suspicions they have by speaking to their local officers or by contacting Crimestoppers anonymously.”
Sergeant Rhodri Davies, the officer in charge of the operations said: “Drug misuse and supply will not be tolerated by Bridgend Neighbourhood Officers and any person found using or supplying illegal substances will be dealt with accordingly.
“As well as more pre-planned operations such as Thursday’s, police officers will also target and stop and search potential suspects whilst on patrol. We want the illegal drug fraternity in our area to be looking over their shoulders and feel distinctly uncomfortable.
“Our Neighbourhood Policing Teams will also concentrate on raising community awareness regarding drugs misuse and we would urge anyone to come along and speak to us about any concerns they may have and we are sure we will be able to help.”
Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
