Bright futures for stage show school kids

Talented students have taken to the stage to raise money for the Mayor of Rhondda Cynon Taf‘s Charity Appeal.

Deputy Mayor Councillor Simon Lloyd was guest of honour at It’s Showtime, held at the Muni in Pontypridd and he cheered the students on all the way.

Pupils from Tonypandy Community College joined with the LMT Academeny and the Selsig Operatic Society to hold the It’s Showtime extravaganza.

The evening was split into three sections; with LMT Academy performing a medley of Michael Jackson songs, Selsig singing songs from West End musicals, and Tonypandy Community College belting out hits from their upcoming Little Shop of Horrors show to close the show.

All proceeds from the evening, which have yet to be counted, will be donated to the Mayor’s Charity Appeal, which this year donates to Help for Heroes, Macmillan Cancer Support and Diabetes UK (Cymru).

Cllr Lloyd said: “It was such a pleasure to be invited to this show. I thoroughly enjoyed myself thanks to the talented performers who put on a great show and obviously have bright futures ahead of them.

“I am extremely grateful to them for not only organising the event, but also for donating the proceeds to such good causes.”
