Broadcaster and singer Isla St Clair is preparing to take the audience at Gartholwg Lifelong Learning Centre on a nostalgic journey of film and song during the war years.
Eyes Front is an exciting combination of live performance and film which has been critically acclaimed on its recent UK Tour.
Led by Isla St Clair, who will perform a selection of popular ballads, all of which were classic of their time, and tell the story behind them.
The Scottish-born talent is known to millions for her numerous television appearances, including The Royal Variety Show, Morecambe and Wise Show, The Saturday Show and, most notably as co-host of the Generation Game.
During her long singing career, she has performed at venues as diverse as the Edinburgh Festival and the Royal Albert Hall and earned stage success in The Sound of Music as well as traditional folk concerts.
Co-hosting the production is award-winning filmmaker Patrick King, who uses film clips to illustrate how songs and music played an important part in the war years by boosting morale. He also tells the fascinating and humorous behind-the-scenes look at the making of their award-winning documentary films about music in the war.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, Skills & Lifelong Learning Cllr Eudine Hanagan explained: “Eyes Front promises to be another first-class evening of entertainment at Gartholwg as we welcome two prominent artists in their given fields. Taking us on a nostalgic journey through the classic musical standards, accompanied by archive film footage, I’m sure it will be a performance that is enjoyed and remembered by all those who attend.”
