The iconic Broadway Embankment Wall on the southern approach to Pontypridd Railway Station has undergone a Royal spring clean thanks to the Council’s Streetcare team.
Contractors undertook a total overhaul and cleaned the stonework. The majority of this work took place overnight in order to reduce the effects on traffic movement along the length of road.
The specially designed murals also received a good wash down and clean as part of the exercise to brighten up the entrance to Pontypridd from the A470 and Treforest.
The cleaning operation is one of many smaller projects being undertaken by the Council’s Streetcare teams across the County Borough, including street blitzes, bus stop cleansing and graffiti removal.
This cleaning project also forms part of the regeneration scheme for Pontypridd town centre which has recently began in earnest and resulted in a £10.5m investment for the town.
Councillor Anthony Christopher, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Frontline Services said: “The completion of the cleansing scheme of Broadway Embankment Wall is one of many smaller projects the Streetcare teams undertake throughout the County Borough annually to ensure Rhondda Cynon Taf is a cleaner, brighter place to live and visit.
