Bryngarw Festival draws big crowd

Over 1,000 people attended the recent Bryngarw Festival at Bryngarw Country Park for a celebration of culture and nature.

Organised as part of National Biodiversity Week, the programme of events and activities offered something for everyone – opera, Celtic folk, live theatre, puppetry, mini-beast hunts, nature rambles for school children and the fantastic ‘Slice of Alice’ performed by the Berwyn Centre groups of Bridgend Youth Theatre.

Organised by Bridgend County Borough Council’s Arts and Community Development, the festival was set in a marquee within the beautiful surroundings of the country park.

Ceri Evans, Principal Officer for Arts and Community Development, said: “It was great to see such a diverse range of people coming to the Bryngarw Festival.

“Our youngest was just 20 months, and the oldest was well into their nineties.

“Bryngarw Country Park provides a magnificent setting for a festival of this kind and we are delighted that local people and visitors to the area came out to support us in such numbers.”
