An inaugural award in memory of the late Brynle Williams has been presented by his wife Mary at the Royal Welsh Show.
The memorial award – a crystal cup sponsored by the Welsh Conservative Assembly group – was handed out in the Welsh Pony and Cob section this morning.
It will now become an annual award at the show, in memory of Brynle – the former Welsh Conservative Assembly Member and rural affairs spokesman who passed away in 2011.
Speaking on behalf of the group, leader Andrew RT Davies AM, said:
“Brynle was a shining light in the world of Welsh rural affairs and will always remain a great inspiration to many.
“As a politician he was a master of his work and fought consistently hard for rural communities across Wales.
“This prestigious award will be a fitting recognition to a man who dedicated himself both to rural affairs and to politics.
“I am delighted that the group had the chance to pay tribute to him in this way.”
