Cllr Colin Mann – Deputy Leader & Cabinet Member for Corporate Finance, Procurement & Sustainability said:
“This budget consultation report has captured the key points of our medium term financial plan, we have balanced the budget for 2011/12. We are now able to maximize the success of the investments we have made and bring forward a sound financial plan to maintain our services across the authority with no additional charges being introduced or reducing our capital projects plans. I look forward to receiving the comments from the people and organizations who will have sight of this report over next few weeks”.
Cllr Colin Hobbs – Cabinet Member for Performance Property & Asset Management we have been extremely successful in meeting many of our performance targets this year which no doubt has had an influence on our overall productivity and efficiency. We have sold and transferred to communities a number of our properties which has allowed us to reinvest the money into the projects mentioned by my colleagues.
The innovative training and apprenticeship scheme with an investment of over half million pound has seen 107 young people start work through this programme in the last six months . We are committed to this programme for the next year as well ” said Cllr James Fussell – Cabinet Member for Human Resources.
Cllr Mann concluded ” This is by no means a comprehensive list of the good things that happened around the county borough but we are presenting a budget which can, once again, be achieved with no increase in the council tax rate which has to be good news for residents.”
