Bungalow Project Helps to Build Young People’s Confidence

The Lord Mayor of Cardiff, Cllr Keith Hyde is to meet young people involved in an innovative construction project this weekend.

The Mayor will visit the Summer Bungalow project, based at Capital Training (SW) Ltd, training centre, on Saturday September 11 at 11am to see the fruits of the young people’s labour.

The project has been run by Capital Training (SW) Ltd and has helped teach 14 to 16-year-olds to build a fully habitable two bedroom bungalow from scratch.

The project has helped develop the confidence of teenagers and has taught them new skills.

To celebrate the completion of the bungalow, a special BBQ will be held at the training centre and during the day there will be activities and games for all the family to enjoy. Plus a raffle and auction with all money raised going to the Ty Hafan Children’s Hospice.

During his visit, the Lord Mayor will meet the teenagers who have taken part in the programme and find out about how they have enjoyed it.

Lord Mayor of Cardiff, Cllr Keith Hyde, said: “The Summer Bungalow project is a great initiative and a fantastic way to teach and develop the skills of teenagers.

“I am looking forward to meeting those who have taken part in the project and finding out more about what they have learnt and whether the project has developed their interest in progressing their building skills further.”

Capital Training (SW) Ltd, Development Director, Sukhi Sohal said:‘ Capital Training (SW) Ltd believes in always giving back to the community, we are working with a variety of partners, to achieve the objectives of giving opportunity back to the individuals. We have won the Careers Wales Social Inclusion Award 2 years in a row and that alone says it all.
