During his statement made to the National Assembly for Wales on Tuesday the Prime Minister announced that Wales will receive £56.9 million to help implement the role out of broadband.
If the Welsh Government matches this funding, it will allow 90% of homes and businesses to access super fast broadband and everyone would be able to access at least 2mbps.
Pembrokeshire Assembly Member Angela Burns said; “I was delighted by the commitment made by David Cameron because this is great news for Wales and the people of Pembrokeshire. For too long there have been areas within Wales that have not received adequate provision of broadband.
In society, it is almost taken for granted that people can get access to efficient broadband services not just for business and schools but also for getting important information from local authorities, councils, hospitals etc.
To live in an area that has no broadband provision can be severely limiting for businesses, school children and individuals and the Welsh Government must, as a matter of priority with these funds, invest them efficiently and properly.
I will be asking the Welsh Government as to how much match funding they are prepared to invest to deliver the future to the people of Wales.”
