Burry Port lifeboat launches to broken down fishing boat

At 6:15 pm on Tuesday 27 September 2011 the volunteers at the RNLI’s station at Burry Port launched to assist a Hardy 25 broken down 2 miles south west of Worms Head.

The boat had left Burry Port marina earlier for a days fishing with a crew of two on board. The casualty suffered fuel problems and was unable to start the engine. The crew asked for help from Swansea Coastguards who requested the launch of Burry Port’s Atlantic 75 Blue Peter II.

The station’s Atlantic 75 arrived at the position broken down boat 18 minutes after launching. The crew of the Atlantic rigged a tow and brought the boat and its crew back to Burry Port. They entered the marina at 8 pm.

The lifeboat was crewed by Owain Davies, Julian Aston and Andrew Williams.
