Commenting on the decision to give Richard Burton a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Shadow Minister for Heritage and South Wales West AM, Suzy Davies, said:
“This is wonderful news and very long overdue.
“It’s hard to believe an actor of Burton’s skill and stature did not already grace the Walk of Fame and I congratulate the fundraising team for helping to put that right.
“The Burton legacy remains very much at the forefront of our minds and plays a crucial part in drawing international attention to Wales and what we have to offer.
“The newly launched Richard Burton trail in Pontrhydyfen is an excellent example of how his memory can be used to connect communities.
“The fundraisers’ aim to support scholarships at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama is a natural next step and I’ll be supporting that campaign as much as I can.
“Let’s be confident about what Wales can do and raise the money to foster and promote our talents in all fields”.
