A year’s worth of fundraising activity by a North Wales business has helped a Flintshire charity exceed its donations target by more than 240 per cent.
PR and SEO specialists Outwrite raised almost £2,500 for the Domestic Abuse Safety Unit (DASU) during 2013/14, with a charity quiz and auction rounding off a 12-month event programme.
The event raised £1,200 and helped smash the goal of £2,000 set at the start of the fundraising campaign. Outwrite also organised a hike up Snowdon and donated its Christmas card budget to the DASU.
The charity, which offers help and advice to people experiencing domestic abuse from across North Wales, also received free PR and online marketing support.
DASU chair Julie Ann Gillespie said: “The donation will go towards transportation costs to help clients get to safety. In addition, we will be able to provide them with furniture and white goods if required when they set up a new home.
“The funding will also allow us to offer trauma therapy and other counselling support to clients.
“We are extremely grateful to Outwrite for its support over the last year in raising this sum, and also for the PR advice given to us”.
The charity quiz and auction, held at St David’s Park Hotel, Ewloe, received support from Coronation Street stars Ian Puleston Davies and Mikey North, who play builders Owen Armstrong and Gary Windass in the soap.
The pair donated a signed hi-vis vest, in addition to Ian’s character’s builder’s box, for the auction.
