One Tuesday the University of Glamorgan became the first university in Wales to become part of the iTunes U service that allows for the distribution of audio and video content from leading education institutions.
Launched on March 9th the University’s dedicated iTunes U website will host a variety of recordings including public lectures, student interviews and research-lead content from the Glamorgan Business School. Both audio and video content will be available for users to download directly onto their personal computers, iPod or iPhone free of charge.
Richard Tunstall, a Senior Lecturer in Enterprise at the Glamorgan Business School, is one of the academics to have his work appear on iTunes U. He commented, “As an academic community, our role is to share leading-edge knowledge and research that makes an impact with students, other researchers, businesses and the general public.
“Being at the first university in Wales to take part in iTunes U gives us an opportunity to start a conversation with the public about topics that matter to them, which might satisfy their curiosity, help them to understand important issues, or be the beginning of a new journey of lifelong learning. iTunes U also provides an opportunity to share some of the exciting ideas coming out of Wales, from students through to professors, and illustrate why Wales is such an exciting place to be”.
Following the University’s launch event, the Glamorgan Business School will now turn its attention towards sourcing new content for users of iTunes across the world.
