Business Start Up Service Praised by AM

Lesley_GriffithsWrexham Assembly Member Lesley Griffiths has praised a Welsh Government business initiative as it passes a significant milestone.

Between June 2008 and January 2014, latest figures show the Business Start Up service has helped create more than 8,000 enterprises and 15,000 jobs across Wales.

With backing from the European Regional Development Fund, a further 7,000 positions are expected to be created through the programme by June 2015.

The service is aimed at helping and supporting people who wish to start their own business and the Welsh Government is hoping these latest figures encourage even more people to contact the Start Up initiative.

The facility can help people gain the key skills, support and advice they need to develop and prosper.

Local AM Lesley Griffiths said:

“Creating job opportunities and supporting business growth are two of the Welsh Government’s key commitments and these latest figures demonstrate the Business Start Up service is working and on course to meet future targets.”

“The service has helped create thousands of new businesses and jobs, which in turn has helped boost the wider Welsh economy.”

“Anybody interested in setting up their own business should log onto http://business.wales.gov.uk/starting-business or call the Business Wales Helpline on 0300 060 3000 for further information.”
