Local businesses and the neighbourhood policing team in Kinmel Bay are joining forces to help drive down crime and protect their property with a Business Watch scheme.
To date, over 30 firms occupying units on the Tir Llwyd industrial estate have signed up for the scheme which is being launched today (Wednesday, October 20) by Chief Inspector Mark Pierce and Police Community Support Officer Sabrina Beedham.
It was PCSO Beedham along with Community Beat Manager Steve Thomas who decided to get the initiative off the ground after consulting with both employers and employees on the estate. PCSO Beedham said: “The businesses on the industrial estate have wanted something like this for a while, so that prompted me to get Business Watch off the ground.”
“Under the scheme, everyone who signs up will be encouraged to take an active part in preventing and helping to reduce crime on their business premises. Plenty of crime prevention advice will also be given to members who will also be kept informed of suspicious vehicles and any emerging trends that they will need to be aware of. We are also asking the businesses to be vigilant and to let us know if they see anyone or anything suspicious in the vicinity.”
Once Business Watch becomes a recognised scheme and fully established, plans are in the pipeline to look at further improving security on the industrial estate.
Anyone wanting more information regarding the scheme should contact PCSO Beedham at Abergele police station on 07768843548 or 101 (If in Wales ) or 0845 6071001 (Welsh language line) 0845 6071002 (English language line).
