Cardigan volunteer lifeboat crew had a busy day on Sunday as they held their annual station open day as well as being called out to two services throughout the day.
The station open day started at 10am, and the crew where the volunteer crew were available to show people around the lifeboats and boathouse. With a lot of interest and questions from the public the volunteer crew were able to provide a lot of information and sea safety advice throughout the day. However, at 3:00pm a call was taken from Milford Haven Coastguard to reports of a woman who was in difficulty after getting stuck in the mud opposite Jewson’s slip way. The volunteer crew launched the lifeboat and ended up having to dig the woman out of the mud as she was stuck fast. Fortunately she was fine and was returned by the lifeboat crew to the slip way where the Coastguard took over.
Then, just as the tractor and Atlantic 75 class lifeboat were being prepared to be put away, a call came in to assist a landrover that had gone too deep and had got stuck while trying to retrieve a small boat. Within minutes the landrover was saved, however the boat had taken on too much water so with help from extra crew and the station bilge pump, the boat was also saved.
