Busy store salutes an RNLI 150th

An old-established North Wales department store has just completed a highly-successful in-store Lifeboat Week to mark Llandudno lifeboat station’s 150th Anniversary year.

Clares store, in Llandudno’s busy Mostyn Street devoted a whole shop front window to an eye-catching RNLI-themed display which throughout the week-long event attracted the attention of the thousands of shoppers and holidaymakers passing by. In addition the store manager allowed the resort’s Lifeboat Guild volunteers to operate a foyer-located RNLI souvenir stall which quickly proved to be a ‘hit’ with the store’s customers, whilst Clares’ store personnel entered fully into the spirit of the occasion by coming to work in nautically-themed garb – from captains to pirates – for the event’s final two days.

To round off the week, store manager Claire McElroy presented Llandudno’s mayor and Mayoress, Cllr and Mrs Greg Robbins with a donation of £250 from her Company for RNLI funds (the RNLI is one of the Mayor’s two chosen charities for his year of office) which he in turn passed to Lifeboat Guild Secretary Lyn Brown. In return, Lyn presented Claire with a decorative wooden shield bearing the RNLI house flag for her to display in the store as a token of the RNLI’s appreciation for her Company’s support.
