Caerphilly Air Quality – Have Your Say

CaerphillyResidents have just over a week left to contribute their views to a consultation about air quality in Caerphilly town centre.

In September 2008 an area in Caerphilly town centre was designated as an ‘Air Quality Management Area’ after higher than normal levels of nitrogen dioxide (a traffic related pollutant) were present in the area.

More recently, other areas in and around Caerphilly town centre have also shown nitrogen dioxide levels above the normal level, and in November last year, the ‘Air Quality Management Area’ was extended to also include parts of Nantgarw Road and Ton-y-Felin Road.

An air quality action plan has since been developed, and Caerphilly County Borough Council is calling on residents to have their say on this important document. A copy of the draft action plan and details of how residents can have their say can be found on www.caerphilly.gov.uk. The closing date is Wednesday 5th March.
