Caerphilly AM Calls for Local Views on Nuclear Proposals

Labour AM Jeff Cuthbert has called on residents of Caerphilly and the Rhymney Valley to make their views heard on the proposed new Hinkley Point C nuclear power station across the border in Somerset.

The Environment Agency is seeking public views on the UK Government’s proposals as part of its consultation process, which closes on 15th December.

Jeff Cuthbert AM said “Even though this proposed new station is in England, its proximity to Wales means that Welsh people need to make their views heard on the proposals.

“I know that many of my constituents in Caerphilly and the Rhymney Valley will have strong opinions on this issue, as well as the wider question of where we as a country obtain our energy from in the years ahead – bearing in mind this has to be done against the backdrop of reducing our carbon emissions and tackling climate change.

“I would urge as many of you as possible to respond to this consultation.”
