The former Caerphilly Library in Morgan Jones Park has been made available for freehold sale or leasehold disposal.
Members of Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet agreed the proposals for the disposal of the former Caerphilly Library during a meeting on Wednesday 4th June.
Caerphilly County Borough Council has already received a number of external expressions of interest in the building to date. The enquiries cover a variety of proposed uses including those of a commercial nature, such as a café or a crèche/nursery, as well as community-focussed proposals.
Interested parties will be asked to submit firm proposals and supporting business cases to the council’s Head of Property Services. Proposals will be assessed against criteria such as financial viability, sustainability and suitability to the local environment. The council’s Cabinet will then consider further recommendations for the future use of the site.
The old Caerphilly Library building in Morgan Jones Park was replaced by a new flagship library on the site of the former Post Office on the Twyn in Caerphilly town centre earlier this year.
As well as being home to over 40,000 books, the new facility hosts a range of services including a Customer Service Centre, a museum point, a teenage lounge and children’s areas.
