A Caerphilly based Inline Roller Hockey team was picked as one of the top teams in their regional league to play against teams from across the United Kingdom.
The Caerphilly Comets travelled to Rotherham in South Yorkshire to play against teams from as far away as Dundee at the British Inline Puck Hockey Association Nationals.
This was the first time the team had ever played in a National Tournament and have only been playing together as an established team for around 6 months. They finished 5th overall and gained great experience as a team to prepare them for future competitions.
Andrew Jones-Prosser, Head Coach of the team, commented, “I’m really proud of each and every player. They all played exceptionally well and showed great determination.”
The team, which welcomes player of all abilities aged from 4 to 18, trains every Sunday evening, from 6-8pm, at Caerphilly Leisure Centre. During training sessions the team also offer learn to skate sessions for beginners looking to learn a new skill.
