Caerphilly rewarded for its dazzling displays

Caerphilly County Borough council has been awarded a prestigious Silver award at this year’s Wales in Bloom competition.

The award recognised the work undertaken in Caerphilly to make the town centre an attractive area for shoppers, visitors and residents alike.

CCBC cabinet member for the environment, Cllr Lyn Ackerman, said, “We are delighted that Caerphilly town centre has been recognised by the Wales In Bloom committee. A lot of effort goes in to making the town centre come alive with impressive floral displays and I would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work and commitment.”

Wales in Bloom judge John Woods commented that “great strides have obviously been made in raising the profile of Caerphilly as a tourist destination and the contribution that both the floral displays and public art add to that package is to be commended.”

John also commented that “the barrier planters and hanging baskets in the town centre were excellent” and the town has “a very good standard of cleanliness.”

He also said that it was a great pleasure to visit Caerphilly and meet so many enthusiastic people from throughout the community.
