Do you have an experience, friendship or even love story that you may like to share as part of Caerphilly County Borough Council’s 50th anniversary twinning celebrations with Ludwigsburg in Germany?
Later this year, a special celebratory event will take place to mark the 50th anniversary with Caerphilly County Borough’s special friendship with Ludwigsburg, and the organisers are seeking information from residents, past and present, who may be able to share their experiences of friendships built up between the two county boroughs over the past 50 years.
Perhaps you were a member of a choir or sporting team who went on an exchange to Ludwigsburg? Perhaps you took part in an office, work or residential exchange? Or perhaps you even have an international love story that you may like to tell us about?
The council is looking for people who may be willing to share any photos, letters or information, which give a broad view of the variety of friendships that have been formed over the past half a century with those living in Ludwigsburg.
These mementoes, with permission from their owners, will then be displayed as part of a special Twinning exhibition later on this year.
The council also currently has two students from Ludwigsburg, who are on a three month exchange programme, to help them understand the structure of a Welsh council administration, and to take part in the planning process for the 50th anniversary twinning celebration with Ludwigsburg in September this year.
Nicole Heller and Diana Rothfuss are keen to hear about your experiences and friendships developed over the years with those from their home town.
They said, “It would be very good to hear from anyone who has experiences of twinning between Caerphilly and Ludwigsburg, and it would be particularly interesting to see how those friendships were formed and blossomed in the years after World War II.”
