Parents are being warned about the dangers of the frozen lake at Caldicot Castle Country Park after children have been seen playing on the ice.
Monmouthshire County Council and Gwent Police said children have been seen playing on the frozen lake despite the efforts of countryside wardens and the local police to dissuade them. Signs indicating the dangers have also been vandalised.
People areadvised to keep children away from the ice.
Cabinet Member for Community Services, Councillor Giles Howard, and Neighbourhood Inspector Jim Walker said playing on the ice was a novelty to some children but “it’s just not worth the risk and subsequent heartache”.
