Young people who are interested in putting on and promoting gigs in Rhondda Cynon Taf are invited to a free event, where they can learn more about the music business.
The Young Promoters Network will be held on Friday, February 25, 2011 at the Muni Arts Centre’s Circle Gallery, Pontypridd, from 11am-3pm.
The event aims to provide professional support, training, networking opportunities and first-hand event experience for young people with a flair for band event promotion, and those who think they might like to follow this career path within the music industry. The day may also appeal to bands/singer songwriters looking for ways to promote themselves through live gigs.
Promoters Greg Barton and Spike Griffiths; Rob Jones, Technical Manager for Rhondda Cynon Taf Cultural Services and Tony Sheppard from the Council’s Licensing Team will give talks. A free buffet will be provided and there will be an opportunity to network.
Young people aged 14-25 are welcome and registration is from 11-11.30am. For more information on the event, please contact Arts Development on (01443) 490258.
Rhondda Cynon Taf’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, Cllr Robert Bevan, said: “There is a thriving music scene in Rhondda Cynon Taf and this great free event will give young people the information and contacts they need to successfully stage and promote concerts.”
The Young Promoters network has been created by SONIG Youth Music Industry, part of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cultural Services Arts Development Team and funded by Fframwaith.
