Calling Gwynedd artists – be on course for success

A training course is available for those interested in exhibiting pieces of art and craft work.

The course could be the next step in a successful career for many artists as it is aimed at people who want to present work to exhibition planners in the hope of securing and exhibit.

The training session, which is free to artists from Gwynedd, will teach participants how to professionally hang an exhibition and includes a practical session. The tutors will be Delyth Gordon and David Huntington – both can draw on their vast experience in selecting artwork and hanging exhibitions.

Gwawr Roberts, Gwynedd Council’s Community Arts Officer, said: “Many artists may be confident enough in their work to want to exhibit it publicly; this training course could be a springboard to the next step of their career.

Gwynedd can be proud of some truly talented artists, I hope that by attracting as many as possible to attend this course, and gaining the confidence to exhibit their work, we can build on our reputation of having a vibrant and exciting art scene.”

Those enrolling on the one day course should bring their own tools to the practical session – pencil, measuring tape, drill, screwdriver and spirit level.

The course will take place on Thursday, 30 September between 10am and 3.30pm. The morning session will take place at the Arfon Area Office at Penrallt, Caernarfon and the afternoon practical session at Oriel Pendeitsh, Caernarfon.

The course is free to artists from Gwynedd and a refundable deposit of £20 is required to secure a place. The course is £20 for non-Gwynedd residents. Refreshments will be provided but the course does not include lunch.
