Campaign to Keep Local Loos

The Assembly Member for Clwyd West, Darren Millar, is leading a campaign to keep the public conveniences in a rural North Wales village open.

Conwy County Borough Council is currently consulting on proposals to close the public conveniences in Llanfair Talhaiarn near Abergele. In response to opposition to closure from local residents, members of the Memorial Hall Committee who run the community hall in Llanfair Talhaiarn are hoping to take on the toilets in order to keep them open.

When asked to comment Darren said:

“I want to see these local loos stay open. They are used by both the local community and visitors to the area.

“It’s disappointing the council seem to have made a decision to close these conveniences without actually bothering to consult with local people until very late in the day.

“Members of the local Memorial Hall Committee are prepared to consider taking on the village’s public conveniences so they can stay open. We are currently in discussions with the local Council to see if this is possible.

“I would urge the local community to show their support for this campaign.”
