Proposals to turn the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal into a designated conservation area are going out for public consultation.
The canal is an important part of the landscape and heritage of the area and Torfaen council is considering the possibility of recognising the special historical interest of the canal.
An appraisal has taken place to assess the canal and its environment.
Public consultation will take place between Monday 15 February – Friday 26 March and the proposals can be viewed in the Consultations area of Torfaen the website and Pontypool, Cwmbran and Blaenavon libraries.
Four drop-in consultation days will also be held on:
- Friday 19 February, 3pm-9pm, Mount Pleasant Hall, Pontnewydd
- Tuesday 23 February, 3pm-9pm, Panteg Community Hall
- Wednesday 3 March, 3pm-9pm, Cwmbran Community Council
- Tuesday 9 March, 11am-6pm, Panteg House, Griffithstown.
