Cardiff Council has successfully prosecuted a Cardiff resident for causing noise nuisance.
On 5th May at Cardiff Magistrates Court, Nicholas Woodward of Llandaff Road, Canton, was found guilty of a breach of a Noise Abatement Notice served under section 80 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
The defendant failed to appear in court and the matter was therefore proved in his absence.
Mr Woodward was fined £150, ordered to pay costs of £248 and a victim surcharge of £15. He was given 28 days to pay.
The prosecution were granted a forfeiture order in relation to his television which has been seized during the offence.
Chair of Cardiff’s Public Protection Committee, Cllr Ed Bridges said: “Cardiff’s Noise Pollution Officers provide an invaluable service in ensuring that practical advice and assistance are readily available to avoid neighbour noise problems. In some cases, noise nuisance can seriously affect the quality of life for Cardiff residents and it is vital that persistent noise offenders are prosecuted.
