Capital funding for community projects

Community-based organisations are being invited to apply to Rhondda Cynon Taf Council for funding for schemes that will benefit the wider population in the Neighbourhood Renewal Areas.

Capital funding is available for environmental improvement projects in the identified areas of Treherbert, Tynewydd, Miskin and Penrhiwceiber.

The investment will complement the significant work already taking place in the Neighbourhood Renewal Areas, which has seen extensive work on private houses and the community infrastructure with the aim of raising the quality of life for all.

The capital funding is available via the Rhondda Cynon Taf Neighbourhood Renewal Area Non-Housing Fund for formally-constituted community organisations and is for capital projects that will deliver sustainable benefits to Neighbourhood Renewal Area residents.

Cllr Paul Cannon, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Housing, said: “This is an important opportunity for those living and working in the Neighbourhood Renewal Areas to secure even more funding for schemes that benefit the future of the wider community.

“It is important to remember the grants are for constituted community organisations for schemes that can be delivered in the next financial year for the greater benefit of the Neighbourhood Renewal Areas.

“The schemes will complement the significant ongoing work to improve the housing stock and community infrastructure of the areas and we are pleased to continue to demonstrate our commitment to this important scheme.”

Deadline for applications is April 30 2010 and projects must be completed within the 2010/11 financial year.
