A 20 year old Abergavenny man was arrested by Police on Tuesday 22nd June on suspicion of arson following a car being set alight.
It is alleged that the man broke into the car which was parked on Blorenge Road, Abergavenny. When the car failed to start, it was set on fire.
Following a call from a concerned member of the public, Abergavenny Local Policing Unit Officers who were in the area at the time chased the suspect on foot and arrested him.
PC Stephen Clarke who arrested the man said, “We would like to thank the public for providing us with prompt and valuable information which led to us being able to make an arrest so quickly.
“We would also like to remind people of the importance of locking their car doors and windows and to make sure that all valuables are removed from sight.
“Car thieves look for insecure cars, and vehicles which have valuables such as phones, cameras, MP3 players on show – don’t let your vehicle become the next target.”
