Cardiff Bay Visitor Centre (CBVC) will welcome visitors to its new home at Wales Millennium Centre later this week.
The newly refurbished Tourist Information Centre (TIC) will provide information on attractions, events and facilities, not only in the Bay but across the city and local region.
Overlooking Roald Dahl Plass, Cardiff Bay Visitor Centre is ideally situated to meet and greet visitors to the Bay, providing a wealth of information, maps and leaflets to suit everyone’s needs.
CBVC is set to become the first port of call in the Bay for everyone who is looking for something to do, somewhere to eat and even a place to stay.
At the newest TIC in the Visit Wales Network, the team will be on hand to make bed bookings across Wales, with a range of accommodation providers, including B&Bs and hotels.
They will also offer up-to-date tourist information and even sell tickets for a wide range of attractions including white water rafting at Cardiff International White Water and visits to Flat Holm Island.
In the Cinema and Exhibition room, a new DVD on the Bay showcases the development of the area from its early origins to present day events and water activities with Glamorgan Archive imagery and S4C heritage footage. This short DVD will be available everyday to view free of charge in both English and Welsh.
A range of souvenirs and gifts will also be on sale, including Welsh books, biscuits, chocolates and of course the exclusive Cardiff Bay range of mugs and memorabilia.
The Cardiff Bay Visitor Centre will be open 7 days a week from Saturday September 18th from 10am to 6pm, with extended opening times on performance nights to complement the visitor experience at Wales Millennium Centre.
Cllr Nigel Howells, Executive Member for Sport, Leisure and Culture, said: “Wales Millennium Centre is a fantastic venue and provides an exciting opportunity for us to develop the new home for the Cardiff Bay Visitor Centre.
“I am certain this will be a very successful and popular location. This is an exciting phase in the development of the Bay. The transformation of the area around Roath Basin is now very much underway, reflecting the ongoing confidence about the future success and economic development of Cardiff Bay.
“The move to Wales Millennium Centre was necessary to make way for access to the new developments in Roath Basin and demonstrates the Council’s commitment to working in partnership with local businesses, and our wider responsibility to serve the local community as well as national and international visitors. I wish the team every success.”
Mark Taylor, the Centre’s newly appointed Chief Executive said, ‘As Wales’ No 1 visitor attraction, welcoming some 1.5 million visitors a year, it makes perfect sense that we are home to the new Cardiff Bay Visitor Centre, which will form a most valuable addition to Visit Wales’ national network.
