Cardiff Business Technology Centre has another successful year

Cardiff Business Technology Centre  adjacent to Cardiff University is pleased to announce another successful year of trading.

The Centre has become a leader in providing incubation space, business development advice and financial support to technology based companies in Cardiff helping them overcome the barriers facing young businesses.   The occupancy levels at the Centre have radically increased over the last 12 months and  is now 97% full  with  21 businesses  employing  over 128 people. This is the highest occupancy rate in the 24 year history of the Centre.

Forensic Resources Ltd based at the Centre has developed as a leader in the forensic analysis and expert witness industry. Director of Forensic Resources Abi Carter has been shortlisted for a Science and Technology Award at the Inspire Wales Awards which are to be held at the Cardiff City Hall on 17 June 2011.

Abi Carter said ”The Centre has enabled me to develop my business in a professional environment with continual support in all aspects of my business including administration and financial advice and guidance.  Being a tenant at CBTC allows me the opportunity to network with other companies based at the Centre, and continues to add value to my business.’

Another successful business at the centre is Zipporah who provide an electronic bookings service to the public sector. Director of Zipporah, Emma Powell won an award for Best Business Leader at this year’s Welsh Women Mean Business Awards.  Emma Powell said “the support and assistance that we have been provided by CBTC and its employees has helped us become the successful organisation we are today.  CBTC has accommodated us in our continual growth in size and business ambitions.  Their advice and guidance has been invaluable as a relatively young organisation and we have been able to network with other like minded organisations based at the centre”.

Deputy Leader of the Council and Chair of Cardiff Business Technology Centre Ltd,  Councillor Neil McEvoy, said “we are delighted to hear the achievements of all the tenants companies, it re-affirms that  Cardiff Business Technology Centre is a vital resources providing entrepreneurs with the opportunity to develop their businesses in a supportive environment and demonstrates the calibre of young business we have in the city which have benefitted from the facility. It is particularly pleasing to have generated a £5000 profit last year , and I would like to thank the management  at the Centre for their efforts in achieving this”
